Cuts

I am now really starting to understand why the dudes on Grand Designs end up needing to sell their kidney to finish their build. The further you get in, the less easy it is to compromise. Facts

As the building takes form, it starts to feel incredibly real. When you begin to walk through spaces that were once a CAD drawing, you can start to see, feel and taste your ‘new life’ in a way that’s weird… but cool. Making sure this space is the very best it can possibly be can quickly become all-consuming.

This feeling… yeah. I can see how this can spiral.. and end up with us living off of Indomie Noodles for the next 12 months (if you know, you know).

Luckily for us, I am a pragmatic accountant at heart, ready to kill off any of Lanre’s architectural wet dreams that have us teetering on the edge of financial ruin. What’s the ROI? What will I get in return? Beautiful design, you say. Puh

Today we had to wave goodbye to a section of walk-on glass floor on the ground floor that would have added some additional light into the basement. I must admit, this sucks. However, I’m being a big girl and trying to remember that as much as this feature would have been beautiful, it won’t make our home any less.. a home, it will not take away from the joy and pride I feel over creating this space for ourselves, and in the grand scheme of all the things in all of the world… we’ll live.

So awkward!
